Stop into our store at East Towne Mall in Mequon, or give us a call or send us an email to schedule a one-on-one consultation with our jewelry design expert. If you like, you can send us a brief description of your wedding, along with jewelry inspirations, gemstone and metal preferences, and any questions you may have. A designer from our studio will reach out to you to discuss the next steps and give you the excellent service you deserve.

Step 2 – We’ll talk about your vision

During the consultation, sketches are created to illustrate the ideas we discussed visually. These sketches help to convey the scale, shape, and design options being considered. As we explore different styles and forms, a clear design direction begins to emerge.

We offer a wide range of gemstone varieties and shapes, from traditional options like diamonds, rubies, and emeralds to more exotic choices like pearls, alexandrites, and tourmalines. Our extensive inventory of diamonds is carefully reviewed, with a detailed focus on the 4 C’s – carat, color, clarity, and cut. We provide a selection of diamonds that match your desired specifications, and we can source any stone specially for you.

If you prefer colored gemstones, we have a vast collection for you to choose from. Our strong connections with top gemstone dealers expand our selection even further, ensuring you have access to the highest-quality options.

In some cases, we can reset a family heirloom diamond or gemstone and incorporate certain materials into the new design. We will also review the final decision on metal choice, discussing the options available, such as platinum, 14k yellow or white gold, or palladium—all of which are popular for custom wedding jewelry among our clients.

Step 3 – You’ll see a CAD design

Next, we help you visualize your piece of jewelry with a professional 3D model. With CAD, our experts can create intricate parts and accurately place gems with ease. Don’t worry if you’re not an artist. Our top-notch jewelry designer will collaborate with you to develop these personalized 3D design concepts. We’ll work closely with you, making any necessary alterations or updates along the way to achieve your desired look.

Using 3D jewelry models in a virtual environment and applying different materials and textures, we can generate photo-realistic images of your finished piece.

CAD jewelry design does not replace the essential skills of our jewelers working with diamonds, gold, platinum, and gemstones. However, it does enable the creation of prototype models that can be transformed into three-dimensional designs. Our experts at East Towne Jewelers employ the same artistic vision and knowledge of materials, just with the help of modern technology. These digital files are then sent to our 3D printers, which bring the designs to life in 3D wax or resin form.

Step 4 – You’ll hold a wax mold

Once the design is finalized, we transfer the 3D model to create an exact replica of the jewelry. Our state-of-the-art 3D printer will then bring your CAD design into a 3D model.

Our master CAD/CAM specialists will bring your design to life by printing a resin-made wax model for final approval before it undergoes the casting process. At your request, we can review the wax replica with you, giving you the opportunity to make any necessary adjustments.

Step 5 – Your custom design is ready to wear!

Experience the thrill of seeing your vision become a reality as you hold your custom-designed jewelry. Finding the perfect fit is essential, whether it’s for you or a loved one, so you will try on your custom piece for size. We can assist you in finding the right ring size for your personalized wedding rings.

If the piece doesn’t meet your expectations, don’t worry. We offer complimentary resizing, exchanges, and returns, even on pieces you’ve designed yourself.

The design process duration depends on the complexity, but once design approval is received, manufacturing can take up to 10 weeks.
